Passion For Birds – Passion For Life

THE FEEL OF THE SKINNY BRANCH

bird-on-branch“Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings.”  Victor Hugo

Getting out on the skinny branches can be a bit scary.  Just knowing that we DO have wings, and if we take the leap we will have the wind beneath them, makes us more willing to get on those branches from time to time.  Go ahead!  You will learn so much about yourself.  You will gain faith in yourself.  And, every time you do it, it gets easier.

Give Me Wings

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31

Sharing poems, especially ones that are moving beyond words and written by very good friends is a passion.  Having not been blessed with the talents to write this way, I always find them particularly moving,  I hope you like it as much as I do:

Give Me Wings

Give me wings
So I can fly,
For freedom, for independence.
Give me wings
So I can be
All that I am,
All that I can be.
Give me wings
So I might fail,
Learn …
Succeed.
Give me wings
To be myself,
Give me wings.

Wings And No Feet

Spread your wings“He who has imagination without learning, has wings and no feet.”  Joseph Joubert

Imagination:  Webster defines it as,the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality; creative ability and the creation of the mind”.

Did you ever let your imagination go a little wild – let the creative juices flow?  I think we all have.  It’s when we have the vision and don’t follow through that we crash and burn.  The wings spread wide, we take off, and then at the first sign of turbulence come tumbling down.

We have a couple of choices after the crash.  I choose to pick myself off, brush myself off and spread those wings again, taking with me the lessons learned from the previous failures.  The alternative, well, I won’t even go there right now, as I am imagining a wonderful weekend of pumpkin carving, a long walk in the woods with my binoculars in hand so I can see my feathered friends, a soccer game, Church and a fun birthday party!

I wish you all a wonderful weekend as well – spread those wings!!
