( Usually when we write posts, we keep our names to “Admin” -  Today I am using my name as this is a post that I had created on a social site.  I would be very interested in your point of view in helping people understand that blogging is about building a beautiful train track- thank you)

When I was working with children with different needs, I was taught a technique to see how connected these kids were.  You took a wooden train set and asked the children to build a train track.  Such a simple test really.  The children who made tracks that were well put together, that made the loop, showed them to be thinking in a whole reasoning.  The children who had tracks going nowhere, well, you can understand their head space ” all over the place” is an apt description.

There are many adults who will go “all over the place” not organized, flitting around from this to that, with little rhyme or reason.  They start one thing in their lives and move on to something else never connecting and getting very frustrated because they do not see results.

What does this have to do with marketing?

Simple. (more…)

i love comments Pictures, Images and Photos

One of our new members to Success BlogNet -  Mary AKA The Panda lady from Panda Picks and I were talking about how important it is to make comments on blog.  This is a lady who is striving to learn about all aspects of Blogging.  This Post is dedicated to her :-)

Go Visit her blog and give her feedback on her posts and article and don’t forget to leave her a good comment.

Before there was social media as a way of communication, there was the blog comment. Blog commenting was one of first ways that people had to be able to converse with each other as an advanced form of social interaction.

The fact is that we all jump up and down with joy when we get a comment to our blog - not the spam comments of course, but those from people who have come and read what you had to say about any particular subject.

Many of you bloggers out there even know ways and means to entice people to leave comments such as:

Asking for comments

Asking questions and seeking opinions

what else do comments do for you?

Blog comments can help with the search engine optimization of your website by seriously improving your ranking within the major search engines. WOW! How does that work you ask..

Search engines see blog comments as content, and most of it, you did not even have to write yourself. When your readers are commenting on your post, it is quite likely that a lot of the content of the comments are going to reflect your keywords or at least your topic. When you reply, using keywords ( where appropriate) can also be a boost to your blog All this adds up to making your blog Search Engine Optimized.. very Cool!
Just remember that like writing any post, make sure that you keep your language natural because the whole point to having blog comments is creating a continued conversation. The fact is having your readers coming back to your blog site creates value and a sense of community.

What tips or tricks do you use to keep the conversation going?

To Your Success

Our passionate advice is that the time to join the conversation is now. The barriers to entry are minuscule, the benefits great, and blogging just happens to be fun.

As bloggers we are trained in optimizing  our content to get ourselves noticed by the search engines as well as our human readers.  Another way to be successful in our blogging on the net, is to also optimize our  computers.  Many people do not realize how much they junk they collect in their travels around the blogosphere.  What you notice is that everything slows down to a crawl and you end up getting frustrated.

CCleaner is a freeware application that many many people use successfully.

Last updated on 29th September 2008 New
Over 195 million downloads!!!

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

We did find that it takes more time than what they say, in fact, it make takes several seconds to a couple of minutes, but it is well worth the effort.  :-)

Download your copy of CCleaner today.

seal of approval Pictures, Images and Photos

Would you want an official seal of approval on your blog?

The European Parliament has passed a resolution urging the European Commission and member states, “to safeguard media pluralism.” The resolution also calls for, “an open discussion on all issues relating to the status of weblogs.”

Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted 307 to 262 on Sep. 25, in support of the resolution, based on a report produced this summer by the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Education.

I am sure that you read that title and went huh?

I just had to pass this on to you… in case you didn’t know this great tip -

Success BlogNet - My Daily Web Journal

While reading different bloggers blogs,  I came accross  My Daily Web Journal.

This very smart blogger had this great tip regarding cell phones ”

“Did you know that you can use your cell phone when you’ve locked your keys in the car with an automated unlock mechanism, by calling home and having a family member use the duplicate auto-unlock mechanism close to the phone while you hold your cell phone within one foot of your car door. When out of your service area, you can use the worldwide universal emergency number 112 even when the keypad is locked.”

It really does pay, to not just look at a blog, but read what they have to say!

A blogging scenario: You have created your blog - written your best blog post - You publish it and feel very proud of your self and tell all your friends about it - then what?   Somebody says - um…that’s nice, I cant see it or…its not showing right.

Has this ever happened to you?

The fact is, a blog web designs and content might look different or even be incompatible on different types of browsers, but to download 8 or 10 browsers takes a lot of time.

Is there an answer?

We found a fantastic tool  -  Browsershots.

Success BlogNet - Blogging tip- BrowserShots

By using Browsershots, you can test your web design in up to 80 different versions of browsers in 4 operating systems.

All you have to do is enter your Blogs URL into the form they provide and it will be distributed to the various Browsershots computers and then they will open your blog in their browsers. Screenshots will be created and uploaded. Within minutes you can view your blogs screenshots and see how they look in the different browsers.

When the Success BlogNet Team tested Browsershots, we used the BlogNet Awards blog site, 56 browsers were selected and the time it took was less than 5 minutes. When you reload the page you will see how your blog looks in the different browsers. When you put your mouse over the different images, they will enlarge so that you can study the layouts. You can also click on the images and you will be taken to the browser in question and you can get a report card of how your blog looks in that particular browser.Success BlogNet - BlogNet Awards - Browsershots

There is an added bonus to using Browsershots, according to one  comment that we read, the recent screen shots list is almost as good as a stumbleUpon.
All in all we have found this to be a very useful tool, easy to use, and the best part is that you will notice any problems before anyone says.. ” um…it doesn’t look right”

Have you ever wondered how for example The BlogNet Team get images of bloggers blogs and get them on the site?

The answer is we use screen capture tools. Some are easier than others and as many of you might know there are free tools and paid tools.

I for one I am not very technical minded and if a tool is too complex to use, then I will dump it.

I tested out some of these tools for you, all tools take practice to use, but as the saying goes, if I can do it so can anyone.

Success BlogNet - Kwout Screen Capture Tool
Kwout (quote)

There are a few ways to make Kwout work for you when using the screen capture process. There is a firefox extension and by bookmarking it. Kwaout will host the screeshots on their own servers, or you can upload the images to any photo file sharing service such as Flickr. This screen capture tool will preserve the hyperlinks in your screenshot through image maps

Success BlogNet Screen Capture Tool

I have to say that Fireshot is my favorite tool to use. A Firefox Add-on,that is easily downloaded It is easy to use, it makes streamlining and consolidating screen captures a breeze. Once you have created the image you want, you get the different codes, such as HTML, Direct Links, codes to use in forums or emails.

Success BlogNet- Screen Grabbing Tool
Screengrab is another Firefox extension that puts an icon on your status bar at the bottom of your screen. When you click this, you have the option of copying or saving the complete page, the visible portion of the page or selecting the part of the page you want.
Regardless of which tool that you use, remember that there are rules and regulations to capturing any screenshot. If you are unsure what to do, let the owner know that you are using their image and show them what your are doing. Doing this just makes sense and the added bonus is that you will create a good working relationship with others on the net and even create a link for yourself.

To Your Success,

Success BlogNet Team

As we all know by now,to be successful when writing content for your blog, it is also important to add the eye candy so that people will stay longer on your post or page.

This includes images, videos, graphs or what have you.
As with anything, there are rules to this as in reading the license that come with downloading or uploading an image to your blog.

It can’t be stressed enough that you could be breaking the law if you don’t take the time to know these licensing rules.

A short primer on the different wording you may come across: (more…)
